HSE Library Introduction

Welcome to the HSE Library

The HSE Library is made up of a national team of library staff.

We work to ensure that the best possible research and evidence underpins decision making and advances patient care in the health service.

Use the library to:

  • Find information for evidence informed patient care
  • Search for a book (print or ebook)
  • Research a specific topic
  • Find information on a specific drug/medicine 
  • Find a specific journal title
  • Find a specific article 
  • Use the Point of Care clinical decision making tools. 

Access is provided via www.hselibrary.ie

HSE Library staff are dedicated to helping you find material to support your clinical work, evidence-based practice, patient care, PPPGs and research during your time in the health service.

Library Membership

Register for a Library Account

Your account will allow you to

  • Borrow  up to 5 books for a period of 5 weeks. You can also request up to 5 books at a time.  
  • Access  electronic books, electronic journals, bibliographic databases, medicines information and point-of-care tools.

To Register you will need

  • A valid email address list
  • Your HSE employee number or Student number
  • When registering, you will need to choose your nearest HSE Library and work sector or role.
